The magazine is published twice yearly - in April and June - and is distributed by OMOA member marinas. Please visit the "How to Receive A Copy" section to see if your marina participates. Making the Most of SummerWe are right in the middle of summer in Ontario now. And it is certainly due. With the long-range forecast in the province looking good, make sure you block time now to get some real use out of your boat or cottage this summer. Given recent news regarding such issues as the economy and H1, there is no better place to get away from it all than your boat. With this in mind, we have created a magazine that we hope will help you enjoy your time on the water even more this summer. In this issue, we hearken back to an era before most of us ever discovered the joys of life on the water. Ken Kirk brings us back to an era of elegance and grace with a special feature on classic wooden boats. He takes a look at how boaters today can enjoy all of the benefits of the classic boat, while taking advantage of new technologies available in engines and handling. We have also included a couple of pieces on buildings on shore that are essential to summer fun - boathouses and bunkies. Boathouses are a fascinating topic, as they are so diverse in form and function. We have assembled some information on considerations for designing or renovating a boathouse to ensure it best fits your lifestyle. In theWater's Edge section, we take a look at bunkies, which provide kids a place of their own and/or allow guests to have a little private space to enjoy. In sailing and fishing, we turn to a couple of experts for stories for our readers. Rosalind Ross of Queen City Yacht Club in Toronto writes about kids on boats, while Al Lindner offers up tips on late spring, early summer large mouth bass fishing. One of our regular contributors in Boating Ontario magazine, as well as Boats&Places magazine and on PowerBoat Television, Mike Milne definitely gets around on the water in Ontario. This issue, Mike has taken us on a tour of the Top 5 beaches in the province for all those PWCers out there. We also include our second installment in our two-part series on cruising the Trent-Severn Waterway. We pick up where we left you in Bobcaygeon and continue through the towns, lakes and locks right through and up into Georgian Bay. With so much boating to do, along with some great reading and beautiful weather, kick back and enjoy the summer.
